Joyce Nicastro

Joyce is a retired Dublin educator who dedicated her 38 year teaching career to primary aged learners. Joyce graduated cum laude from Illinois State University, received her Master Teacher designation in Ohio and attained a Master of Arts in Teaching & Learning with a focus on Reading Education. Joyce has worked for public school systems in four different states in very diverse settings. Joyce moved to Dublin, Ohio in 2000 and began working for Dublin City Schools at Riverside Elementary. Her 22 year Dublin Schools journey took her to Daniel Wright Elementary, Wyandot Elementary and ended in 2022 at Deer Run Elementary. She treasures her time spent at each of these schools.

Her experience has taught her that teachers learn just as much as students do from their time together. A collaborator, Joyce enjoyed the relationships that she formed with students, families, colleagues and administrators. As an educator, she valued the opportunities and resources DCS provided for students and teachers. The support of Dublin families and businesses were priceless assets to her classroom. Joyce’s tenure in Dublin was focused on our youngest learners in kindergarten and first grade. She is a passionate advocate for the needs of our littlest learners and future leaders.

Joyce is a lifelong learner who loves new challenges, being outdoors in nature, spending time with her husband and family and, as all of her students will attest, she loves being a dachsie mom. As a member of DEF, Joyce looks forward to helping the students and teachers of the community she called ”home” for so many years.
