Gretchen Taylor
Gretchen Taylor is a Dublin resident, parent of three, and teacher in Dublin City Schools. Over the course of her career, she has been a passionate literacy learner and leader, starting with teaching Language Arts at Sells Middle School in 2005, continuing as an elementary and middle school literacy instructional coach for the district, and currently serving as a Language Arts teacher at Karrer Middle School.
Gretchen and her husband have three children, ages 11, 9, and 5. Following the birth of her third child, Gretchen started down a personal and professional path to increase accessibility and belonging for individuals with disabilities and their families. She is passionate about understanding children in asset-focused ways and building multi-disciplinary teams to support them; continually improving practice to make learning communities inclusive of all children; helping other families connect with community resources; and breaking down stigmas in the areas of disability and behavioral health.
Gretchen has previously served as a department chair and member of various DCS committees. She has worked on committees for the National Council of Teachers of English, served as a teacher-consultant for the National Writing Project, written for the online publications Choice Literacy and Lead Literacy. She has a master’s degree in educational administration at The Ohio State University and post-graduate training in instructional coaching at Columbia University Teachers College. She is currently working on her Registered Behavior Technician certification and volunteers with her family for the organization Seeds of Caring. They also enjoy community activities together, including Miracle League, Special Olympics, and events with the YMCA.
